Free Heights of Fall or Critical Fall Heights (CFH) is the term used to describe the fall height from playground equipment. This information is helpful when selecting playground surfaces.

The depth and area of surfacing around equipment is determined by the equipments Critical Fall Height. Creative Play only use surfacing that has been independently tested in accordance with the standards set out in BSEN 1177 (impact absorbing playground surface).
